Accepting an Invitation

When an organization admin invites you to join their organization, you get an email. Signing in through the link in that email takes you to your pending invitations. If you reach the workspace picker and have no workspace to open, Aperture sends you to your pending invitations first.

If you already have a workspace, the workspace picker does not interrupt you. It shows a notice such as “You have 1 pending invitation.” with a Review button. If you sign in normally and have a last-used workspace, Aperture may open it directly without showing the invitations. You can still find pending invitations in your Organizations list. See Finding an invitation later.

The invitation email names the organization that invited you and includes a Review invitation link. The link itself does not grant access. It only takes you to a generic invitation review page. To see the invitation’s details, sign in, or create an account, with the same email address the invitation was sent to.

  1. Open the invitation email and select “Review invitation.” You land on the sign-in page. It shows a “You have been invited.” notice to confirm that you are in the right place.
  2. Sign in or create an account. Any supported method works: email and password, Google, LinkedIn, or Google One Tap. New accounts that use email and password go through the usual email verification. The account must use the invited email address. Aperture matches invitations to your account by email, not by the link. See Account & Sign-in for details on each method.
  3. Review your invitation(s). After you sign in through the invitation link, or when you reach the workspace picker with pending invitations and no workspace, Aperture takes you to the “Review invitations” screen. It shows the email address you are signed in with. Each pending invitation shows the organization’s name, who invited you, and the date the invitation expires. If the inviter detail is not available, the invitation shows “an organization administrator” instead. A recently expired invitation can also appear here as a read-only entry; see below.
  4. Accept or decline each pending one. For every invitation you can:
    • Accept. You join the organization as a Member. See Organizations & Members for what membership includes.
    • Decline. After a confirmation prompt, Aperture dismisses the invitation. If the organization admin wants to invite you again, they must send a new one.
  5. Continue to your workspace. After you resolve every pending invitation, Aperture takes you to the workspace picker, where you choose which workspace to open.

If the screen shows no invitations for your email address, you are probably signed in with a different address than the one that was invited. Select Sign out and sign in with the invited address. You can also select Select a workspace to continue without an invitation.

An invitation is valid for 7 days from the time it is sent. Once it expires, you can no longer accept or decline it, and the organization admin must send you a new one. For up to 30 days after expiring, it still appears in your review queue as a read-only entry showing the organization’s name and the date it expired, with a prompt to ask the inviter for a new invitation; after that 30-day window it drops out of the queue entirely. Either way, an expired invitation never blocks you from continuing to your workspace. When only expired invitations remain, a Select a workspace button appears so you can continue. An invitation that expires while the screen is open turns read-only without a page reload.

If you already have an account and are signed in, any pending invitations also show up in your Organizations list. Each one has a Review invitation button that takes you back to the same review screen. The workspace picker also shows a notice with a Review button when you have pending invitations.
