Tracking a New Competitor or Retailer
The Competitors & Retailers page shows a price-competitiveness overview of every retailer or competitor you already track. This page explains how to expand that tracked set. You can add a retailer that is already available in your workspace, or submit a request to onboard a new one.
What you see on the Competitors (or Retailers) page
Section titled “What you see on the Competitors (or Retailers) page”Summary bar
Section titled “Summary bar”A row of KPI cards sits below the filter bar and the match-mode toggle, directly above the table. The cards summarise the competitors or retailers that match the filters currently applied on the page, not the full tracked set. On the Competitors page they show a match-weighted average across those rows. Selecting a brand or a price position, for example, changes Matched Products, Overall Price Index, and the three share cards.
Retailer perspective, Competitors page
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Matched Products | Number of matched SKUs across the competitors matching the current filters |
| Overall Price Index | Weighted-average price index. 100 % means parity with the field |
| Underpriced | Weighted share of matches where the competitor’s price is higher than yours |
| Inline | Weighted share of matches where the competitor’s price is within ±1 % |
| Overpriced | Weighted share of matches where the competitor’s price is lower than yours |
Brand perspective, Retailers page
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Matched Products | Number of matched SKUs across the retailers matching the current filters |
| Overall Price Index | Weighted-average price index. 100 % means parity with the field |
| Above MAP | Share of listings in view that have a MAP price and are priced more than 1 % above it |
| At MAP (±1%) | Share of listings in view that have a MAP price and are priced within ±1 % of it |
| Below MAP | Share of listings in view that have a MAP price and are priced more than 1 % below it |
A coverage line below the MAP cards shows how many listings are counted and how many matched listings have no MAP price and are left out. If you have set no MAP prices at all, the three MAP cards are replaced by a “No MAP prices set yet” message.
On the Competitors page, every KPI card has an AI sparkle button that opens an analysis of that metric. On the Retailers page, only the Matched Products card has one. Its dialog explains what the overlap numbers mean for your competitive position.
Match mode
Section titled “Match mode”Above the KPI summary bar, an Exact + Equivalent / Exact only toggle controls whether the page includes Equivalent Matches in the matched-product counts, price distributions, and index shown across the page. See Dashboard for more on the two modes. If your workspace has no Equivalent Matches set up yet, the toggle is disabled, with a link to configure them on Market Benchmarks.
The competitor table
Section titled “The competitor table”Each row is one tracked competitor or retailer. You can sort the table by the Competitor / Retailer, Matches, and Index columns. The Price Distribution or MAP Distribution column and the Risk column are not sortable. When a filter leaves no rows, the Competitors page shows “No competitors found for selected filters.” and the brand Retailers page shows “No retailers found for selected filters.”
- Competitor / Retailer. The name with a coloured initial avatar. Click the name to open the Direct price comparison view for that competitor, which is the common-products drill-down.
- Matches. The number of matched SKUs.
- Price Distribution, retailer perspective. A segmented bar that shows the share of matches where the competitor is Lower, Inline, or Higher than your price. Inline means within ±1 %. Each segment is a link into the Common Products view filtered to that price position.
- MAP Distribution, brand perspective. The same kind of segmented bar, but the segments show the share of the retailer’s listings priced more than 1 % above their MAP price, within ±1 % of it, or more than 1 % below it. The table legend names these Compliant, At MAP, and Violation. Below the bar, a line gives the number of listings with a MAP price. If you have set no MAP prices at all, the cell shows “No MAP prices set”. If the retailer has no listings with a MAP price, it shows “No listings with a MAP price”.
- Index. Your prices as a percentage of the competitor’s prices across matched products. 100 % means parity. The value is green below 95, where you are cheaper, neutral between 95 and 105, and red above 105, where you are more expensive. These are the same boundaries as the Risk badge. A competitor or retailer with no matched products yet shows a dash instead of a percentage, and sorts last when you sort by Index.
- Risk. A summary badge based on the price index:
- Margin opportunity. Price index below 95. Your prices are lower than the competitor’s, and you have room to capture margin.
- Balanced. Price index 95 to 105.
- High overpricing risk. Price index above 105. The competitor is significantly cheaper than you.
- No common products. Shown instead of a badge when there are no matched products yet, since there is no price index to assess.
Filters
Section titled “Filters”On the retailer perspective, the filter bar narrows the data by price position, brand, and category, with category-node selection. On the brand perspective, the equivalent control is labelled MAP Severity. Its options are All, Compliant (Above MAP), At MAP (±1%), and Violation (Below MAP). It sits alongside category and brand filters.
Opening the Manage screen
Section titled “Opening the Manage screen”At the bottom of the page, click Add competitor on the retailer perspective or Add retailer on the brand perspective. This opens the Manage screen. It has two modes: add from the existing catalogue, or request a new competitor.
The search text and the request mode are kept in the page address, so a reload or a shared link returns to the same view.
Adding from the available list
Section titled “Adding from the available list”The default view lists all retailers that are already available in your workspace’s data and that you do not yet track. The list automatically excludes retailers you currently track and your own store.
- Type a name or region into the search field to filter the list.
- Find the retailer you want and click Add. The button shows a spinner while the update saves.
- After the save, a confirmation appears and the competitor immediately joins your tracked set. It shows up in the Competitors/Retailers table on your next visit.
Each catalogue card shows the retailer’s name, its type, and the market regions it covers. If no specific region is set, the card shows Global. If the add fails, a message tells you to try again.
When no retailer is left to show, or the search matches none, the list shows “Not finding what you need?” with a reminder that you can request a new one.
To leave the Manage screen without adding anything, click Cancel at the bottom of the list view.
Requesting a new competitor
Section titled “Requesting a new competitor”If the competitor you need is not in the list, click Request new competitor (Request new retailer on the brand perspective) at the bottom of the list view. The form switches to the request mode.
Fill in the required fields:
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Competitor name / Retailer name | Yes | The retailer’s display name |
| Website URL | Yes | Full URL including the domain |
| Primary market | Yes | Select from the dropdown: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, European Union, Global, or Other |
| Additional notes | No | Any specific requirements or context |
Click Submit request to send the form. The button is disabled until you fill all required fields. After a successful send, a confirmation appears, the form clears, and you return to the list view. If the send fails, a message tells you to try again and your entries stay in the form. To go back without submitting, click Back to return to the list view, or close the Manage screen entirely with the × button in the header.
What appears once tracking begins
Section titled “What appears once tracking begins”As soon as a competitor is part of your tracked set, it:
- Appears as a row in the Competitors or Retailers table, starting with a dash for Index and “No common products” for Risk. Its Matches count, price distribution, index, and risk badge fill in as matches arrive.
- Is reachable through its Common Products drill-down. Click the competitor name in the table to see the products you both carry. On the Competitors page, the drill-down carries over the brand, price position, and category (tree) selection from the main page, along with the match mode, so the comparison view opens on the same product set as the row you clicked. On the brand Retailers page, it carries over the brand, category (tree) selection, match mode, and MAP Severity selection. The comparison view opens on the products that retailer lists in the chosen MAP band.
